Getting to Procida and useful information<\/h1>

Everything you need to know before you travel: connections from the mainland, how to reach Casa Corbezzolo from the port, how to get around the island without a car, and which beaches are closest.<\/p>

How to get to Procida<\/h2>

Procida can only be reached by sea. Every connection arrives at Marina Grande, the island's only passenger port.<\/p>

  • By hydrofoil from Naples \u2014 25\/40 minutes.<\/strong> Departures from Molo Beverello, in the city centre. Passengers only, no cars carried. Operators: Caremar, SNAV.<\/li>
  • By ferry from Naples \u2014 about 1 hour.<\/strong> Departures from Calata Porta di Massa. Operator: Caremar.<\/li>
  • From Pozzuoli \u2014 30\/40 minutes.<\/strong> It is the shortest and cheapest crossing, handy if you are driving from the north and want to avoid central Naples. Operators: Caremar, Medmar.<\/li>
  • From Ischia.<\/strong> Seasonal connections from Ischia Porto and Casamicciola.<\/li><\/ul>

    On July and August weekends it is worth booking ahead, and always check current timetables: they change between the summer and winter seasons.<\/p>

    From the port to Casa Corbezzolo<\/h2>

    Casa Corbezzolo is on Via Solchiaro, on the Solchiaro peninsula at the southern tip of the island. It is about 2.7 km from the port of Marina Grande.<\/p>

    When we can, we come and pick you up at the port.<\/strong> We cannot always manage it, but tell us your ferry time when you book: if we are free, we will be there when you land.<\/p>

    Otherwise, there are three ways up from the port:<\/p>

    • Taxi \u2014 about 11 minutes.<\/strong> The taxis are already waiting on the quay at Marina Grande when the ferries come in, so there is no need to book. On the island they are minivans, cars or the characteristic open Apecars, depending on what is available. It is the easiest option the moment you step off the boat, especially with luggage.<\/li>
    • Bus, line L2 \u2014 about 17 minutes.<\/strong> It is the only line that runs all the way to Solchiaro without a change: you board at the terminus by the port and get off a few steps from the house. Tickets cost \u20ac1.20 at bars and tobacconists, \u20ac1.40 on board. In summer the service runs late into the night. If the L2 has just left, lines L1 and C1 leave every 15 minutes and drop you about fifteen minutes' walk away.<\/li>
    • On foot \u2014 about 37 minutes.<\/strong> It is 2.7 km along the coast road, with a bit of a climb on the last stretch.<\/li><\/ul>

      Getting around the island without a car<\/h2>

      From 1 April to 31 October, vehicles belonging to non-residents may not be brought onto the island or driven on it. This is no problem: Procida is small and easy to get around without one.<\/p>

      • Bus.<\/strong> All lines start from the port: L1 Porto-Chiaiolella, L2 Porto-Chiaiolella-Solchiaro, C1 Porto-Pozzo Vecchio-Ciraccio, C2 Porto-Terra Murata. Tickets \u20ac1.20 bought in advance, \u20ac1.40 on board.<\/li>
      • Taxi.<\/strong> Minivans, cars or Apecars: the easiest way to travel with luggage or shopping.<\/li>
      • Scooter hire.<\/strong> Around \u20ac25 a day, from the port.<\/li>
      • Electric bike.<\/strong> Around \u20ac10 a day. Better than an ordinary bike: the island has a number of climbs.<\/li>
      • On foot.<\/strong> You can walk across the island in an hour. Via Solchiaro is a loop running along both sides of the peninsula: it is one of the finest walks on Procida, and it starts at the house.<\/li><\/ul>

        Prices and times are indicative and change from season to season: it is always worth checking them when you arrive.<\/p>

        The beaches of Procida<\/h2>
        • Chiaiolella<\/strong> \u2014 a 14-minute walk from the house, a kilometre that is almost all flat. It is the longest and best-equipped stretch of shore on the island: shallow water, beach clubs, bars and restaurants, looking out to the islet of Vivara and to Ischia.<\/li>
        • Ciraccio<\/strong> \u2014 next to Chiaiolella, separated from it by distinctive tuff formations. About half an hour on foot from the house.<\/li>
        • Chiaia<\/strong> \u2014 reached down a long flight of steps, and one of the most striking on the island.<\/li>
        • Pozzo Vecchio<\/strong> \u2014 known as \u201cIl Postino beach\u201d, after the film shot on Procida. Line C1 goes there.<\/li>
        • The rocks at Casa Corbezzolo<\/strong> \u2014 the private path down from the villa's garden, where the sea is yours alone.<\/li><\/ul>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t
